Craig's not a Stag Do

There is a schedule. There is a table booked under a name. There is a deposit that has already cleared. It is, on the record, not a rowdy one — that is what the restaurant was told, and we are all going to help make that true.

11–12 of us 13:00 till late 5 stops All booked

The running order

14:00Meet

Duke of Wellington

Walk-in

Start gently. A pint, a headcount, and working out who has actually turned up for the first evolution - Escape rooms.

42 The Hayes, CF10 1AJ  /  no booking — we just walk in

  • Get there for 2pm if you can. We move off at 2:40pm to walk down to St Mary Street.
15:002 rooms

Escape Rooms Cardiff

Deposit paid

Two rooms running side by side — Z and Oculus 2: Harold's House. Two teams, one winner, no arguing about it afterwards.

119 St Mary Street  /  castle end, next to Westgate Street NCP

  • Do not turn up drunk. They will not let you play. Simple as that, in their words. Although, if you're drunk after 40mins in the Duke of Wellington
  • Your game may start up to 30 minutes after the 3pm slot, so there is no rush once we are in.
  • Two places per room are already paid for, for those that confirmed. All the 'maybes' who come will pay on the door. The more people that go in a room, the cheaper it becomes per person. We'll sort it afterwards so nobody gets a raw deal.
17:30All 11

Golf Fang

Deposit paid

Crazy golf and drinks for the full group. Eleven places, all covered, nothing to pay at the door.

Golf Fang Cardiff  /  order no. 8647951

  • Places are non-transferable, so tell Andrew before the day if you are dropping out.
  • We finish here in time to walk to dinner for half seven.
19:30– 22:00

Dinner at Gaucho

Deposit paid

Three courses off the Classic menu at £49 a head, in the main restaurant. This is the sit-down bit — and the reason the booking says “not a rowdy one”.

Gaucho Cardiff  /  table for 11, main restaurant

  • Menu is below — have a look before the day so we are not reading it out at the table.
  • A 12.5% service charge is added automatically for groups this size.
  • We leave at quarter past nine to get across town. Finish your pudding.
21:30– 23:30

The Dead Canary

Booked for 12

A hidden cocktail bar down a lane, and the last thing on the list. Two hours, our own table, and whatever happens after that is nobody's plan.

Barrack Lane  /  unmarked door — easy to walk straight past

  • Fifteen minutes late and the table is gone. This is the one time of the day that genuinely matters.
  • If you are running behind, ring the bar or message them on socials — do not just hope.
  • Ask for the booking under Andrew.

Three things that will ruin it

Turning up drunk at three

The escape rooms will refuse you at the door and the money is gone. One pint at the Duke, not six.

Being late to the Dead Canary

Fifteen minutes past half nine and they give our table away. That is the end of the night, not a delay to it.

The hand-grenades among us

Take a chill pill you rowdy mo-fos. This is Craig's night, nobody needs to be getting into fist fights.

Dinner — the Classic menu, £49
